My son read The Hunger Games two years ago. He begged me to read it. I did and though it is about topics I don't normally read about, I thought it was such an interesting read.
By the time the 2nd and 3rd books came out, because I am Mrs. Short Term Memory, I didn't feel the need to read them.
Fast forward two years and we are reading it in book club. I re-read it and then plowed through the second and third book. I have March 23rd circled on my calendar for the movie. I am so excited about it I typed "Hunger Games" into pinterest last night. My son was looking over my shoulder. He saw what I was looking at and then said the following statement...
You know, you are killing The Hunger Games for me.
Ha! I guess nothing ruins the cool factor like your Mom digging something you liked.
I texted my neighbor this little ditty. She shares my enthusiasm for these books and her response was so clever and classic, I just had to share...
"Tell him you love underage drinking!"
Ha! Could someone please make a pinterest poster with that?

I loved the books - the whole family has read them and we have the date marked on the calender too. We're planning a family movie outing!
Do you think it would work? :)
I loved The Hunger Games, and I have it on my calendar, too! Can't wait for it to come out! I just started reading the 2nd book yesterday.
I loved, loved, loved The Hunger Games. Can't wait to see it on the big screen.
Although Book 3 was a total letdown for me.
Got to read the books. I have no idea what the poster means. I had to read it a few times, then I realized I need to read the books, huh?! :)
You should think up some other things you can ruin for him!
sooooo much buzz about the Hunger Games- from young and old alike ... I guess I'd better catch up with the rest of the world!! and re: cool factor, i am just recently starting to get that attitude from my older daughter - where everything i like is an automatic "dislike" in her book :( so sad ...
That is genius! Which boy was this..... if it is the younger he and E can talk about how much they love it..... she's bordering on obsessed here!
That is so funny! Julia is reading it as I write this... guess I'll have to pick it up, too.
Normally I don't like those topics either and I have not read the books, but I must say that I am intrigued and considering reading them...
That book is all the rage and even my daughter's 5th grade friends are reading it! I need to read it before she does, as I have heard it is required reading in middle school.
Love that comeback.
I must meet your neighbor! Love the sense of humor!
I still need to read the Hunger games. Currently I'm JUST NOW reading The Help. It's been a slow reading year. Things are just so busy and by time I finally can drain... I blog. lol!
I can't wait to make things un-cool for my kiddos! ;) HA!!
Your son is super cool. Obviously. He was totally ahead of the Hunger Games trend. ;) Hopefully he's not too mad his sweet Mom is digging it, too. Heck, the Hunger Games madness is hard for ANYONE to resist. ;) I am counting down the days to the movie, too....SO EXCITED!!!!!!
Hahaha! Had to laugh at your friend's statement. I'm really looking forward to the Hunger Games movie too. But, I also have a short term memory because when I saw the keep calm pin, I didn't get it - then I started reading your post and remembered. Probably should re-read them really quick.
The Hunger Games is now ready for me to crack open...it sits anxiously on my nightstand table. I'm #406 on the waiting list for book two at the library so I figured I'd better get on it now. I just can't buy the hardbacks of the last two...I am too cheap.
Kinda concerned about the movie as I was super excited about all the Twilight movies and was a bit let down by them. Books are just the best.
I'm missing you around here. :(
