Up in here.

Up in here I have been tolerating nursing people back to health.  I am sooo not the Florence Nightengale type.  At all.

I have been preparing for Lent.

I have been reading.  For book club we are reading Hunger Games.  Which I read two years ago.  I decided to re-read it and couldn't put it down the second time either.  I am almost through the 3rd book in the series.

I have been re-working my exercise routine.  It's time for a change.

I have been getting back to clean eating.  I fell off the wagon a bit, but time to get back on.

I have been mourning the end of Downton Abbey for the season.

I have gotten hooked on Friday Night Lights.  I am a Tim Riggins fan.  Does that make me a cougar?

I have been learning to deal with the fact that my oldest is employed.  He is liking the job and looking forward to his first paycheck.  I fret through every shift.  Is he getting there safely?  Is he being treated well?  Is he clogging his arteries?  I did not know this was a difficult parenting hurdle.

Finally, the big reveal on what we called farts growing up.  I feel I've built it up too much and now you'll be disappointed.  We called them....
pooneys.
I know, right?  I think my parents got away with that because they only had girls.  Now they have four grandsons.  Trust me.  They all say fart.  My brother-in-law hit the nail on the head when he told my sister that no son of his was going to be in a locker room and say the word pooney.

So, there you have it.  Was pooney a let down?

Oh my, just reading your blog reminded me of things I need to think about doing. For instance, I need to prepare for Lent!!! I hadn't even thought about tomorrow being Ash Wednesday.

Love the picture! I have the "In Conversation With God" book, and I think that may well be part of my Lenten prayer. More and more, though, my books are on my iPad. It lets me read in the dark and stretch the font so it is big enough to see. ;-) I have been working my way through Imitation of Christ for a year or so. Good stuff...rich. It is on the iPieta app.

I am looking forward to teenage employment, so they can have their own funds! So far, he has only applied at the country club near our house (bike riding distance). We may have to widen the search.

And for the record...we called them stinkers. And "butt" was a bad word.

I am mourning Downton Abbey as well but I am anxiously awaiting the return of Mad Men on March 25th, it's my favorite show ever.

Teenagers working is a hurdle for sure, another baby step toward independence (for both of you..ha ha).

My mom called them "stinkers."

I guess I should read Hunger Games. I think I'm the only one who hasn't. We are going to try our best to go to Ash Wednesday service tomorrow, with colds and a 3 year old. I won't feel right if we miss it. Ok, pooney is pretty funny!

love this post of random thoughts - i really need to organize all of my own random thoughts like this!! Re: Downton Abbey - I'm with you in big-time mourning, friend - oh how sad i am for anna and bates to be left this way ... did you hear that season 3 adds shirley maclaine to the cast as cora's mother? what a fabulous counterpart for maggie smith's dowager countess, i'm excited for that! and re: pooney ... yeah, that's not gonna work for boys!

Tim Riggins is in some new movie that might or might not have a plot. John Carter. I don't care about the plot as long as Tim Riggins smolders.

I want to read Hunger Games. My book club has been pretty lame lately; it is a bunch of us who went to high school together, and we usually drink wine and complain about our husbands, and gossip. They all watch Downton Abbey and I feel completely left out! Must rent! Oh, giving up facebook and pinterest for Lent. My friends say it's too much at once, we'll see :-)

Pooney?! Ha!
The BIL story is cracking me up :)
Happy Lent! My boys are burying Alleluias tonight...in the turtle sandbox- fun!

Alicia said...

oh my gosh, girl!! you crack me up...pooney was never a word we had in our house. how do parents come up with some of this stuff?? :)

Pooney? haha We said Fluff with our girls. Funny the things we say. Now my kids say fart. I am sick over here and I am not happy about it. I blame Aubrie's kindergarten Valentine Party that I went to. :(

I think "pooney" is cute. Having girls, I tried to get them to say "toot" when they were little...somewhere along the way they were exposed to the f-word (I don't even like to spell it nevermind say it--what does that say about me???)

We are getting ready for Lent here too. I think I am way too excited about 40 Bags for 40 Days and it is not enough of a sacrifice...trying to decide what else I can give up.

You always make me laugh!

I plan to read the Hunger Games next. Am so hoping I won't be disappointed.

We are hooked on Friday Night Lights as well and I am seriously a Tim Riggins. My husband continually says he's not sure what that says about me ;)

We've all had the crreping crud too. P is still sick. :-((

I want to re-read The Hunger Games before the movie come out...

And we said, "poot" in my family.

{{sigh}}I HATE that Downton Abbey is over! I used to watch Friday Night Lights...Oh, that Kyle Chandler! Such a hottie!
We definitely fart at our house. I have a student who will say, "I beep" when he lets one out. He has down's syndrome, so I guess he's allowed to call it a "beep".
Good for you for getting ready for Lent. It has totally slipped up on me: I forgot to order my King Cake!

Ok, I have not read the Hunger Games.... E is barely speaking to me about it. It's her favorite and is counting down to the movie. Seriously, she looks at me with disgust when it's brought up that I haven't read it. Steve's read all three, though..... she lights up when that's mentioned.

Seriously, parenting teens and crossing their hurdles is so much harder than the baby/toddler years.

Downton Abbey.... I"m in mourning, too.

Pooney..... oh that's funny!

Oh how I love me some Tim Riggens! I even pulled for him and the single mom to stay together so I could live vicariously through her. (and FTR....that is SO not something I condone in real life, but it is Tim Riggens!)

What I Did Today said...

Hahahahahahaha! Pooney is hilarious! We weren't allowed to say "fart" when I was growing up. We could only say "toot." Hahaha! Or "broke wind." I have no idea why. I'm not the Florence Nightengale type either. :)

I am so glad you posted. I love reading about your faith and am aware that my faith is lacking but like to think it could come back.

I left my blog address instead of my email address I don't mind you knowing it we have chatted before. But EVERYONE??? I am not there yet either!

What is funnier? There is a mom at the school named Pooney. No joke. I don't know her but I hear her name mentioned a lot.

I LOVE Tim Riggins! I'm so sad that show had to end...they could have kept it going for years with new students every few years! :(

We called it vapors when I was wee, but my boys say fart. Ewww! Boys... right? Heh.

Tim Riggins is definitely one hunkie dude. If you are a cougar, then so am I. I've seen that John Carter trailer and thought, how bad can it be with cute Tim in it?!
Remember how you and H and I talked about FNL way back when we were at the Fearrington Village dining at breakfast?
Still waiting for season 1 disk 1 of Downton Abbey to arrive on Netflix. I must be to low on the totem pole. I end up there a lot these days.
