Of late.

{tap tap}
Is this thing on?  Anybody out there?
If so,
hello.
I am still here.  I have just been wondering if I still have anything to say.

My children are growing up and out of respect for them I don't want to share every little ditty.

And so I've been pondering, is my cup of coffee or bowl of oatmeal or the flowers I purchased even interesting?  Is it narrcissistic?  Maybe I am just in a Lenten state of mind.

In any case, the oatmeal is really good.

And I do love taking food photos.

And coffee photos.  But is it blog worthy?  I am not sure.

Meanwhile, while I am thinking deep thoughts time just ticks on by.  The thing this blog has taught me is to notice the little, the mundane, the ordinary.  Will I continue to notice if I don't have you to blab it to?

Maybe I should just blab it to her.  She's a great listener, even if she does smell like fritos.

I really don't know if this is a simple case of writer's block or what.

But let's just table that discussion for now and allow me to show you a glimpse of my weekend.

My Mom and sister came to town.  Nana had to visit her gainfully employed grandbaby.  And buy a dozen biscuits.

We ate.  We shopped.  We laughed.

We took a few photos.

We saw a show.  It was my second time and I loved it just as much the second go around.

It is such a great show but I wouldn't mind a few less f-bombs.  Couldn't they say "pooney" instead?
That probably wouldn't work, would it?

So that's it.  I sure appreciate a few of you checking in on me.
I hope your Sunday is lovely.

If you didn't post about these days, I would have nothing to look forward to. :) Seriously, you know I love and adore you, and your blog. I think maybe it is Lent that has you in a reflective, more quiet mood. Plus, life in general, and you are in a very busy season of life with your boys. Your pictures always make me smile, and I hope you keep posting them. Coffee and food photos are always blog worthy, in my opinion. This is real stuff, and this is what people want to read....you are beautiful and inspiring. xo.

I'll second what Nicole said. I enjoy the pictures and the commentary. Lots of life is ordinary, and that's OK. For what it's worth, my older teen said he wished his coffee looked like yours!

Sometimes I think when I don't have anything to write about, that's when I start noticing the small, beautiful things in life. But sometimes I'm just not in the mood, so nothing gets written! :)
Love the pic of your mom & your son! Your mom looks SOOOOO young! She must've been a child when she had kids! How great is it that y'all do such fun things?

I was actually worried that you gave up your blog for Lent. Then I went back and checked the date of your last post!

I think whatever you decide to share will be interesting and funny because I like your point of view.

Keep on posting...what may seem ordinary to you might just be extraordinary to others...like those beautiful blooming trees while I look at bare branches outside my window. Do you know that I didn't even know what farro was until you posted about it? And we don't even have a Bojangles in Canada...although I do love me some biscuits..ha ha

Hi! I happened upon your blog because i too have 2 boys although their ages are 13 and 14. And so I really enjoy seeing a life of a mom that is navigating motherhood and 2 teenage boys. I really enjoy your musings and pictures. Thanks for posting; they bless me in a fun way.

I love your blog. You have taught me to look at the small, little, mundane aspects of life as beautiful! I've missed you.

Also, you inspire me to try oatmeal!

I'll third what Nicloe and Karen said. Your ordinary life is in fact very interesting! :)
I'm a fan of the ordinary real life stuff!

I third the motion, even though you don't technically need a third. I get that your kids want privacy. I get the Lent aspect too, and a time to focus and reflect is always a good thing. So which ever direction you go, please know how much I enjoy your blog and your food and your coffee and that pooch and whatever other little or big things crop up on here.

How great to have a mother daughter sister weekend?!

Stay with us! I love to read whatever you feel like blogging about.

I am so jealous! I haven't even seen The Jersey Boys once! Glad you had fun. You, your Mom and sis are all so cute!

For having writer's block, you sure still have a way with words!

It's very blog worthy!
But I get it. I'm in a lenten state of mind too. Fun story: I've been trying to be quiet and more careful with my words. cut back on social media. no blogging....AND NOW I HAVE LOST MY VOICE! Today I woke up and my cold is in my throat and I can't yell or talk. Thanks God. I'm sure he's trying to tell me something...

These are the posts I LOVE! And I think I've had bloggers block, too. By the way, I went to the theater this weekend, too. ;)

I left a comment yesterday but it didn't seem to make it through. Evidently I am so out of practice that I no longer know how to comment correctly.

Either that or I unintentionally typed an offensive word. ;)

Just wanted to say that while I have been wretched at commenting as of late, I still read your blog faithfully. It is my favorite (and, I should mention, the only one my husband shows interest in). My sister-in-law is in town and I introduced her to the frat pack last night (kind of a "greatest hits" intro). We were crying with laughter! I would miss you so if you left us.

xoxo

p.s. I've been reading some G.K. Chesterton lately too!

oh, wow, suzette, you and your mom and sister make such a gorgeous trio together ... so pretty!!

and ps, i feel ya loud-n-clear on the blogging/privacy issues with my kids now that they're older ... not really sure what will become of my blog as a result ... i had a major freak-out over it exactly a year ago and took some time off - i ultimately decided to come back, but with a certain amount of distance ... it's really tough ...

A photo of Jubala coffee is always good!
I lived during the time period of Jersey Boys & that word (F) was rarely used, so I don't know why they think they have to put in stuff like that...
Sweet pics of you & your mom!
I love your doggie....
I haven't been blogging lately (I think there really IS a blog flu going around!), but I've been noticing all the beautiful trees & love it!
Where was the sushi from? It looks really good.
Yes, the boy birdies DO help build the nests, & some of them take turns sitting on the eggs or bring food for the mama, then help feed the babies. Many mate for lifetime, too.
Okay, this is YOUR blog, not mine.... But I enjoy it.
